Soccer season begins in August and runs through the end of October. Teams offered (rules below): 5 & 6 year olds (boys and girls) 7 & 8 year olds (boys and girls) 9 & 10 year olds (boys and girls) 11 & 12 year olds (boys and girls)

RULES/INFORMATION Each child MUST have a mouth guard (this is mandatory for all age levels.) If your child shows up for a practice or a game without a mouth guard they will not be allowed on the field. All age levels are required to have soccer cleats (except 5/6 yr olds.) Shin guards are recommended for 5/6 yr olds and required for all other age levels.
5/6 Year Olds Players must be at least 5 years old but not older than 6 years old by August 1, 2007. Players are taught field positions and basic rules. Children at this age are just learning ball control and how to kick towards the goal. Each child is given the chance to play offensive and defensive positions. Each child is given the chance to play goalie if they so desire. Each team fields 7 players including the goalie. Games are organized at the coaches discretion. No playing the ball from the ground. No slide tackling, checking or raising their legs above the waist to play the ball.
7/8 Year Olds Players must be at least 7 years old but not older than 8 years old by August 1, 2007. Players are taught field positions and basic rules. Each child is given the chance to play offensive and defensive positions. Each child is given the chance to play goalie if they so desire. Each team fields 7 players including the goalie. Field size varies from 50-70 yds long to 30-40 yds wide. Games are played in 8 six minute periods with substitutions happening at the end of each period. No playing the ball from the ground. No slide tackling, checking or raising their legs above the waist to play the ball. Offsides, throw-ins are taught and called during play.
9/10 Year Olds Players must be at least 9 years old but not older than 10 years old by August 1, 2007. Players are taught field positions with the emphasis on remaining in position. Each child is given the chance to play offensive and defensive positions. Each child is given the chance to play goalie if they so desire. Each team fields a maximum of 11 players including the goalie. Players will play on a regulation size field with a regulation size goal. Games are played following official high school soccer rules with a few exceptions. No playing the ball from the ground. No slide tackling.
11/12 Year Olds Players must be at least 11 years old but not older than 12 years old by August 1, 2007. Players are taught field positions with the emphasis on remaining in position. Each child is given the chance to play offensive and defensive positions. Each child is given the chance to play goalie if they so desire. Each team fields a maximum of 11 players including the goalie. Players will play on a regulation size field with a regulation size goal. Games are played following official high school soccer rules with a few exceptions. No playing the ball from the ground. No slide tackling. |
